1 Week Before Moving
- Arrange items that you will be taking with you and those that the movers will be taking.
- Mark any of the boxes that you will be taking with you with "Do Not Load" labels.
- Any items that you will you will need first at your new location should be marked with "Load Last" labels.
- Take a look around the house to be sure you haven't missed anything including any minor repairs.
- Confirm all travel arrangements (flights, hotel, car rentals).
- Make sure your mover has the address and phone number where you can be reached if you are not going directly to your new home.
- At least 24 hours before you move be sure to empty, clean, and defrost your refrigerator and freezer so that they can properly air out. Use baking soda to get rid of any odors.
- Mow your lawn one last time before you move.
- Prepare a "Travel Kit" for moving day. Include items such as snacks, beverages, and games to keep the kids occupied. Be sure to include any toiletries if you are stopping overnight.
